Providing Digital Files to Big Color Output

We accept files in Mac or PC platforms from the latest version of the following programs:

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkExpress, Acrobat Professional

Submitting Digital Files for Output

  • Files should be submitted on CD, by email or FTP (please call for FTP information).
  • Files 8MB or smaller may be e-mailed to us at info@bcousa.com.
  • When submitting multiple jobs on different disks, please keep all files relevant to each individual document on the same disk whenever possible.
  • Additional work required to reassemble your working files may result in extra charges.
  • TIFF, EPS, PDF, and JPG  files are also acceptable, as are self-extracting Stuffit and ZIP files.

Image Files

Please include image files (TIFF,EPS) that have been placed in the page layout application file. Avoid excessive sizing or rotation of placed files

  • Scaling your file:  When possible, all documents should be set up to print at actual size. If you are printing an extremely large document, please consult our staff prior to producing the file.
  • Scanning and Scaling Resolution: RIP software creates dot patterns that optimize the ppi resolution for bit-mapped files. This allows desktop operators to use lower resolution images, reducing file sizes, and minimizing the need for the RIP to process unnecessary data.

Color modes and file formats

  • Our RIP program is designed to create superior RGB-to-CMYK conversions which are optimized for our inkjet printers. For the best color quality, save your bitmapped files as RGB TIFFs.
  • One-bit files and grayscale image must be saved in TIFF format.

Fonts

  • Fonts are one of the most common problems with digital files submitted by our customers.
  • Please be sure to include all fonts you have used in your document in order to prevent delays.
  • Type 1 fonts require both printer (outline) and screen (bitmap) fonts to be included with the file.
  • True Type fonts require the stand-alone font only, which is located in the appropriate suitcase.
  • When creating documents, use True Type fonts alone, not in combination with Type 1 fonts of the same name or family.
  • If your image file is vector-based, such as EPS or Adobe Illustrator, select all of your text and outline the fonts to avoid any font conflicts.

Notes on Color accuracy policy

As an Inkjet Qualified Certified Digital Color Site, we are equipped to offer the latest in inkjet printhead technology and color controls. Since there are so many variables involved in each print job, ie. different monitors, computer systems, and software combined with people with different color perception and viewable lighting, no print job is 100% color accurate.
